Problem:

How are the mandrels used when performing fiber testing with the 40G Certifier?

Solution:

Mandrels are used with the non-encircled flux (EF) multimode modules only. They are installed on the tx fiber at both the Local and Remote units. Mandrels introduce stress to filter out the highest order modes and allow for more repeatable launch conditions.
