End of Support for MSCHAP
Version 18.22 of Observer Management Server will drop support for MSCHAP. Users who utilize "CHAP" for TACACS+ or RADIUS will need to utilize a different protocol, such as PAP, or a different authentication methodology. 18.22 is scheduled to be released around September 2024.

End of v16 Asset Support in Observer Management Server
Version 18.22 of Observer Management Server will no longer manage assets with v16 licenses. 18.22 is scheduled to be released around September 2024.

End of Support for Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2
Viavi Solutions Inc., on behalf of itself and its subsidiaries (“VIAVI”), is announcing the end of support (EOS) for Microsoft’s Windows Server 2012R2 effective immediately. Please find additional details here.

Java Runtime Edition (JRE) Replacement for Observer GigaFlow
Due to changes in Oracle licensing, VIAVI has replaced Oracle Java in GigaFlow v18.16.0.0. Please note that while this new GigaFlow release no longer uses Oracle Java, the installation procedure will not remove the Oracle Java runtime software since other applications may still depend upon it. If you wish to uninstall Oracle Java, please refer to the instructions found on the VIAVI Support site:removing_oracle_java.pdf.

End of Microsoft Internet Explorer Support
Version 18.9 of Observer will drop support for all version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. 18.9 is scheduled to be released around September 2022.

End of Support for Observer components on Windows 32-bit Operating System
Windows 32-bit Operating System is no longer supported. Only 64 bit variants of the OS types (specifically, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10) will be supported with version 18.5.0.0 and forward.

End of Support for Observer components on Windows 7 Operating System
Since the End of Support date for Windows 7 in January 2020, VIAVI Solutions has provided best effort support for platforms using that operating system. As of the 18.3 release, however, we will no longer provide support for systems using Windows 7. Because of certificate validity timeframes, systems running on Windows 7 SHOULD NOT UPGRADE beyond the 18.2 release of Apex or GigaStor. This mainly affects systems using the Gen2 range of hardware. If you are affected by this end-of-support event, please contact your VIAVI Solutions sales representative to discuss your go-forward options.

End of Windows 2008 Support
Version 17.5 of Observer will drop support for Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2. 17.5 is scheduled to be released around September or October 2018.

For customers running VIAVI appliances that have Windows 2008, an upgrade image to Windows Server 2012 R2 is available for purchased (Part number: SYS-IMAGE-WIN2012R2). Please contact your sales representative for pricing. See Security News.
