SecureTime LEO services utilize Iridium PNT STL services to provide encrypted, secure positioning and timing capabilities for resilient, alternate PNT.

VIAVI has partnered with Iridium to provide PNT services that utilize Iridium’s LEO satellite constellation to provide either a primary PNT source, or a resilient PNT solution to backup use cases that currently rely on GPS. SecureTime altGNSS℠ LEO-S is a global service that leverages the existing LEO satellite constellation, LEO ground reference stations, and UTC(NIST)-traceable control infrastructure to offer signals that are 1000 times stronger than GNSS.

VIAVI SecureTime™ altGNSS LEO services are ideal for customers who experience any of the following situations:

  • Environments such as an interior office that do not receive a GPS/GNSS signal
  • Environments that experience signal degradation due to obstructions such as buildings, tunnels, or dense tree canopy
  • Environments that are susceptible to signal disruption due to unexpected outages

  • SecureTime altGNSS LEO-S

    VIAVI SecureTime™ altGNSS LEO-S service uses encrypted L-Band signals transmitted from Iridium’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites to offer secure, alternate GNSS-independent positioning and timing. The service is available globally for both commercial and defense use.

    VIAVI SecureTime™ altGNSS LEO-S services is ideal for the following applications:

    • Indoor installations where an external roof-top antenna cannot be installed
    • Outdoor use on mounted for mobile applications such as vehicles, UAV/USV, or maritime
    • Outdoor dismounted applications for handheld, mobile on-person use

  • SecureTime altGNSS LEO LOCUS

    VIAVI SecureTime™ altGNSS LEO LOCUS service uses encrypted L-Band signals transmitted from Iridium’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites to offer an alternate GNSS-independent timing source. SecureTime altGNSS LEO LOCUS service leverages the existing LEO satellite constellation, LEO ground reference stations, and UTC(NIST)-traceable control infrastructure to provide advanced timing and positioning capabilities for national defense and intelligence communities.  SecureTime altGNSS LEO LOCUS service is available world-wide to international U.S.-allied government organizations in regions where there is sufficient demand for service activation.

    When SecureTime™ altGNSS LEO LOCUS service is installed on SecurePNT™ products, it delivers sub 80 ns timing accuracy, exceeding the ITU-T G.8272 PRTC-A standard, while providing resilient and assured PNT services for critical infrastructure.

    VIAVI SecureTime altGNSS LEO LOCUS service is ideal for the following applications:

    • Global tracking of high-value assets
    • Maritime Search and rescue transponder location
    • Vehicle positioning for land and maritime applications
    • Global hand-held communicator remote positioning emergency alert
