IPTV Distance Error
Knowledge Base - FAQ
What is a distance error in the IPTV results?
Loss distance is defined by RFC3357 and is used to qualify loss patterns. Loss distance is the difference in sequence numbers of two loss events (i.e. the number of packets separating one loss event from another loss event). When the user configures the testset they specify a number for Distance Error. When loss events occur and the loss distance falls below the threshold number the user specified the testset will count it as a distance error. When loss events occur very close to each other it makes it more difficult for recovery mechanisms to correct for the loss. This result is only possible on streams carried over RTP.
