Energy Savings

The RIC and associated Energy Saving Apps can reduce the energy consumed by the RAN by making intelligent decisions about how to deploy resources, for example turning off cells and frequencies during quiet times, without compromising user experience.

Before live deployment, r/xApps and rApps for the RIC need to be assessed and also trained to best optimize 5G energy savings. With TeraVM AI RSG you can emulate RAN hardware, software, cells, power consumption and traffic conditions to test RIC performance under real-world conditions. In an easy and cost-effective way.

In addition, by continually capturing and analyzing subscriber data with NITRO Location Intelligence as rApp/xApp, you can improve RAN power consumption and subscriber QoE further.

Mobility data and subscriber-centric insights are provided to a ML-driven digital twin for analysis. RAN energy savings driven by fully or partially powered off cells and e-tilts can be predicted and quantified by the digital twin in parallel, to safeguard the subscriber's mobile experience. Adjustments can then be implemented to maximum advantage as part of a continuous optimization loop.

 

SASE Test

Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is a new way for employees accessing corporate functions and data securely and efficiently from any location.

The advent of cloud deployed applications and data combined with the diverse working locations has accelerated this change.

5G Core Test

The VIAVI TeraVM 5G Core Test provides a full wraparound validation of a 5G Standalone Core Network.

One of the biggest challenges facing NEMs and mobile operators as they launch 5G is developing products against constantly changing and maturing 3GPP specs.

TeraVM Core Test gives Core Network engineers a controllable and repeatable test environment that helps implement 3GPP standards rapidly. It also simplifies the development lifecycle of the 5G SA Core Network and the introduction of 5G services to the market.

TeraVM provides fully configurable emulation of thousands of basestations, millions of UE's and user applications to create the most realistic 5G SA RAN environment to stress the core. Full support for 3GPP interfaces such as N1, N2, N3 and N6 enables the tester to accurately emulate UE applications and mobility behavior for inter-5G and inter-RAT scenarios.

Test the entire core or wraparound individual SBA components for isolation test.

The TeraVM virtualized platform makes it an ideal solution for validating the 5G SBA (Service Based Architecture) virtual mobile core and its components.

NITRO Wireless Use Cases

The NITRO® Wireless TeraVM AI RSG trains the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) based on data from real network scenarios, the App Validation Engine (AVE) acts as an App "IQ test" to validate if the proposed changes improve RAN efficiency, and Geolocation exposes geolocated data to r/xApps including 24/7 insights on spatial distribution and mobility dynamics of subscribers.

To support the high reliability and QoS requirements of Private Networks, NITRO Wireless offers signal analysis, timing and synchronization verification, antenna alignment, fiber certification, and coverage and performance testing from design to operation.

The VIAVI NTN Testbed overcomes the technical challenges of 5G NTN, providing assurance that new NTN constellations perform reliably while conforming to 3GPP Release 18 and beyond. You can evaluate with a Digital Twin, test with real devices (gNB or UE), and confidently deploy with OTA test (in orbit).

5G RAN, 5G Core, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Next Generation Firewalls, VPN and cloud security solutions all need to be compliant against the latest specifications, while ensuring network performance remains uncompromised. NITRO Wireless Open RAN Security Solution provides test coverage that includes 3GPP SCAS compliance, DoS and fuzzing attack, O-Cloud resource exhaustion, protocol validation, port scanning and open fronthaul security test.

NITRO Wireless Digital Twins combines tools such as RAN and Core emulators, assurance solutions, realistic traffic scenarios, and cyberthreats to mirror an operator's network in the lab, allowing network changes and challenges to be planned and implemented with results analyzed before action is taken on the live network.
